सर्द, अफ़सुर्दा मौसम की भीगी दोपहर को
रोशनी का दरीचा मिले ही-
यह ज़रूरी नहीं।
उदास रातों में आए मासूम ख़्वाबों को
ज़मीं-ए-हक़ीक़त नसीब हो ही-
यह ज़रूरी नहीं।
लम्हों ने तराशा क़तरा-क़तरा वक़्त को
हर लम्हे को सिला हासिल हो ही-
यह ज़रूरी नहीं।
उम्र-भर चला सहेजे यादों के जिन उजालों को
मंज़िलों तक वो साथ निभाएँ ही-
यह ज़रूरी नहीं।
सपनीली ज़मीं पर रोपे ख़्वाहिशों के अंकुरों को
माकूल आबोहवा मयस्सर हो ही-
यह ज़रूरी नहीं।
ख़ुद को खोजने में ख़ुद से किए सवालों को
आसमानी जवाब मिलें हीं-
यह ज़रूरी नहीं।
घनी छलनी से छनकर किश्तों में आती ख़ुशी को
वक़्त का ठहराव मिले ही-
यह ज़रूरी नहीं।
चाहा, ताउम्र बेपनाह- बला सी ख़ूबसूरत मूरत को
स्नेहिल, मरमरी स्पर्श मिले ही-
यह ज़रूरी नहीं।
सर्द, अफ़सुर्दा मौसम की भीगी दोपहर में
तुम्हारी ख़ामोशी को
बेकरार नज़रों से सोचूँ भी ना-
यह तो मुमकिन नहीं।
