प्रचंड उफनती वेगमयी नदी

लांघने को आतुर थी

वक्त का बांध |

कड़कती थी बिजली

गरजते थे बादल

बरसता था आसमान

गहराया था अंधियारा |

टूटे नदी के पाट 

दरके पहाड़

टूटा बरसों पुराना वो पुल

जोड़ता था जो सदियों को |

थरथरा रहे थे पेड़

घोंसले में सहमी थी गौरेया

फसल बुझा रही थी नदी की भूख

संभालता था कोई छप्पर

और कोई खलिहान अपना |

लौटते नहीं परिंदे अब नदी पार से

दुर्गम हो गईं है दूरियाँ  

नहीं आती आवाज़ अज़ान की

और न जाती हे घंटे की आवाज़ |

हे वेगमयी नदी !

जाओगी कहाँ तोड़ बांध

चंचल हो

प्रवाहमान हो

बहो, निरंतर बहना हे प्रकृति तुम्हारी

सहज रहो

आतुरता क्यों ?

समर्पण कर समाना है

समुंदर मे ही

यही है नियति तुम्हारी |
