गर्मियों की साँझ है |

आँगन में दूर तक पसरी हैं

उँघती बेहोश धूप की किरणें |

सामने की खिड़की से आ रहे हैं

पेड़ों के सूखे गिरे बेरंग पत्ते |

सड़क पर उड़ रहा है

धूल बबंडर |

सामने बेजान पहाड़ी पर

बहुत अनमनी सी है उदासी |

साँझ है-

डूबना तो चाहता है सूरज

पर फिर भी डूब तो पाता नहीं है |

गर्मियों की साँझ है-

लंबी

निराशा से भरी

सुनसान और गुमसुम |

याद आता है किसी का चाँद सा

स्निग्ध और बहुत मोहक चेहरा |

इस पहाड़ी से उझक कर झाँकता हो

एक मधुर गीत जैसे |

और मेरा मन दौड़ता है वहीं ...

पर,ये तो गर्मियों की साँझ है

नि:शब्द और सूनी |

उदास मन

लेकर घूमता है ढेरों स्वप्न |

इससे क्या पायी गयीं हैं

ज़िंदगी की कठिन मंजिले |

पर,मेरे सामने तो केवल स्वप्न हैं

और फिर ये गर्मियों की साँझ है

लंबी

निराशा से भरी

सुनसान और गुमसुम |
