क्यों है ?

 खिला है दिन

पर उजियारे में पसरा

अंधेरा क्यों है ?

लजाती हँसी में

उदासी का ये

सबब क्यों है ?

ताज़ा खिला है गुलाब

काँटों में लेकिन अटका

दुपट्टा क्यों है ?

गुल है गुलशन

हवा भी शोख

तलाश तुम्हारी खुशबू की

मगर क्यों है ?

आसमान में उड़ाई थी पतंग

उमंगों की डोर से

अटकी पेड़ पर

फिर वो क्यों है ?

मुद्दतों बाद अव्वले शब

निकला है चाँद

मलिन सी जाने

चाँदनी क्यों है ?

मन के उजले कागज़ पर

लिखा था खत तुम्हें

उस पर फैली मगर

स्याही क्यों है ?

मुझे तो आना ही था आज

दहलीज़ को तकती फिर

ये निगाहें क्यों है ?

सो गई बस्ती

सुनसान हैं गलियाँ

थककर सोया हूँ मै भी

ख्बाबो में मगर

तुम्हारी यादें क्यों है ?
