कहाँ गुम हो गए बापू ?

तुम एक शाश्वत विचार थे

एक नई सोच थे

अशक्तों की आवाज़ थे

देश की स्पंदना और

जनमानस की चेतना थे |

कहाँ गुम हो गए बापू ?

जब जब सोचा तुम्हें-

सादगी और सुचिता मे पाया

बहुत सहज अपने से लगते थे  

बहुत पढ़ा तुम को

और कुछ ढाला खुद में |

कहाँ गुम हो गए बापू ?

गुम हो गई गोल ऐनक

और गुम गए चरखा लाठी लंगोटी

अहिंसा भी अब कहाँ याद है

चाहे तन की मन की

या हो विचारों की |

कहाँ गुम हो गए बापू ?

रसमों,जलसों और तकरीरों में ही दिखते हो

बदलते युग में निरर्थक बतलाये जाते हो |

कहाँ गुम हो गए बापू ?

चले आओ-

निकल मूर्तियों संग्रहालयों और किताबों से

जगा दो सोये जनमानस को

ढाह दो दीवारें मजहबों की

लगा दो मरहम सियासी जख्मों पे

समझ दो सियासतदानों को

देखते हें देशवासी तुम्हें उम्मीदों से

चले आओ फिर जरूरत है |
